Dr. Premalatha Thiagarajan is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Dance Department at the Cultural Centre, University of Malaya. She received her Ph.D in Critical Dance Studies from the University of California, Riverside, in 2012. Through her doctoral research, she pioneered the study on Indian dance practices in Malaysia. She has published her researches in various high impact journals, including Asian Theatre Journal. Her current research interest focuses on dance therapy for breast cancer survivors in Kuala Lumpur. She is also a vivid practitioner of Bharatanatyam. She is the founder and the artistic director of Premalayaa Performing Arts.
