Biography
After completing a Master of Fine Arts (Dance) with full scholarship from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Kopei worked with Australia’s Expressions Dance Company and performed in their production of “Sketches” in 1999 and 2001. In 2002 she performed as a soloist in “here/there/then/now” at Brisbane Powerhouse’ production of “site-specific series of installations” and was named Dancer of the Year by Dance Australia in 2003. Kopei has performed in dance festivals globally, including performing in “Accented Body” as part of the Brisbane Arts Festival as well as other festivals in Australia, South Korea, Indonesia, Germany and South Africa. In 2018 her choreographed piece “Gotcha” was showcased at the Adelaide Festival. Kopei taught dance at QUT, the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and now teaching at Tainan University of Technology and Tsoying senior high school. Her notable choreographed pieces include“Gotcha”, “Beneath the Skirt” , “Fragile”,“Missing Pumpkin Carriage”, “ Squeezing Love”, “A Scene”, “Marquee”, “Walk With Me”, “Sour Lemon”, “Full Bloom”,“Spring Gala” and others.
