HSU, Wei-ying holds PhD in sociology at Tunghai University, Taiwan, and M.A. degree in Dance Study and BA(Hons)in Dance Theater of the City University, London, Laban Centre for Movement and Dance. She is currently an assistant professor in liberal education center at National Chin-Yi University of Technology. After several years of teaching, choreographing and performing, she is now revealing how dance have been developed in Taiwan from sociological perspectives. She is the author of the book Dance in the falling Sun: The Situations and Breakthroughs of the Pioneers of Taiwanese Dance (1920-1950).
