Al Bernard Garcia is an independent dance artist, educator, and choreographer from the Philippines. A graduate of Philippine High School for the Arts, Major in Folk Dance and received the most coveted, Outstanding Artist Award. Finished his Diploma in Dance at the University of the Philippines- Diliman, College of Music.Currently, taking his MFA degree in Choreography at Nanhua University in Taiwan. As an independent dance artist in Manila, Garcia created choreographies for dance companies, theater productions, and cultural initiatives. Won first prize at the Wi-fi Body Contemporary Dance Festival 2012 New Choreographers Competition (Philippines) and featured the winning piece at the Yokohama Dance Collection EX Showcase 2013 (Japan).
His works was performed in Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, USA, and France. Garcia is also involved in education and community development work. He was also part of the launching of programs and new syllabi for dance at Guang Ming College and the Senior High School track of PHSA. From 2015 to 2019, he was Associate Professor at Guang Ming College, and was a Master Teacher at PHSA from 2016 to 2018. He is also a core member of the Contemporary Dance Network Manila.
